Complete Guide to Getting Around Córdoba: Transport for Students and Erasmus
Córdoba is an ideal city for students: compact, well-connected, easy to navigate, and very affordable.
Whether you study in the city centre, Ciudad Jardín, Loyola, or the
Rabanales Campus, getting around Córdoba is simple when you know your options.
In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to know about transport in Córdoba for students and Erasmus,
so you can organise your daily routine without overspending.
🚶♂️ 1. Getting Around on Foot: The Most Convenient Daily Option

Walking is one of the best ways to get around Córdoba. In fact, if you choose your accommodation wisely, you’ll
probably walk to class almost every day without needing buses or trains. Most faculties in Córdoba are close to the main student neighbourhoods, which makes walking the most practical option:
- 10–20 minutes on foot for most daily routes.
- Safe, well-lit streets full of activity.
- Everything you need nearby: universities, supermarkets, cafés, libraries, and parks.
For this reason, we always recommend choosing accommodation as close to your faculty as possible.
Córdoba has many student rooms within walking distance of the university, especially in:
- Historic Centre (Philosophy & Letters, Law, Economics)
- Ciudad Jardín (near Medicine, Education, Psychology and well connected to Rabanales)
Choosing one of these areas means you’ll save time, save money, and enjoy a much easier daily life.
🚲 2. Bicycle: Fast, Cheap, and Very Practical

Cycling is one of the best ways to move around Córdoba, especially if you go to class and return several times a day
or live slightly far away to walk comfortably. The city is flat, easy to pedal through, and the weather is favourable
for most of the year. It’s a very economical and convenient option.
Advantages of Using a Bike in Córdoba
- It’s cheap and requires almost no maintenance.
- The city is practically completely flat.
- Ideal for short distances between your flat, faculty, and the centre.
- Easy to park near all university buildings.
⚠️ Important Things to Keep in Mind
1. Not all landlords allow bikes inside the apartment
In many buildings — especially in Ciudad Jardín or the Historic Centre — community rules
prohibit bringing bicycles into the flat or leaving them in common areas: entrance hall, staircases,
patios, shared storage rooms, etc.
Before renting, always ask:
- Can I store the bike inside the flat? Is there a private storage area? Are there any community restrictions?
2. Avoid leaving flashy bikes in the street
Although Córdoba is a safe city, new or eye-catching bikes are more likely to be stolen if left outside.
Tips to reduce risk:
- Use a simple or second-hand bike.
- Avoid expensive or flashy models.
- Use a U-lock (much safer than cable locks).
- Leave the bike in busy, well-lit areas.
✔️ Recommendation
If you plan to move around by bike, choose accommodation with enough interior space to store it safely.
🚌 3. Aucorsa: Córdoba’s City Bus Network

Aucorsa is Córdoba’s urban bus company and the most widely used public transport service among students.

With these passes, you get free transfers and can travel across Córdoba
paying only one fare (valid for 1 hour).
🚆 4. Cercanías Train to Rabanales Campus

If you study at the
Rabanales University Campus (Engineering, Sciences, Agriculture…),
the
Cercanías train is almost essential.
Benefits of the Train to Rabanales
- Only 5–7 minutes from Córdoba Central (Renfe).
- The fastest and most reliable way to reach the campus.
- Avoid traffic delays.
- Schedules aligned with university class times.
Approximate Cost for Students
- With the UCO subsidised pass, the monthly cost is very affordable (around €16/month).
- Ideal if you commute to the campus daily.
Recommendation: If you study in Rabanales, living near the
Renfe Station, Avenida de América, or Ciudad Jardín will save you a lot of time.
🛴 5. Electric Scooters
Many students use electric scooters to move quickly around Córdoba. They are convenient, easy to store,
and practical for short distances.
- Perfect for short commutes.
- Allows full independence without schedules.
- Easy to store in your room (if allowed by the landlord).
⚠️ Important Regulations (2026 Update)
From January 2, 2026, new rules for Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs) apply:
- Mandatory insurance for civil liability.
- The scooter must be approved and registered with the DGT and have an identification label.
- Forbidden to ride on sidewalks; allowed only on bike lanes or the road.
🔎 Practical Advice
- Not all landlords allow scooters inside the building — always ask.
- Avoid leaving a flashy scooter on the street — they are easy targets.
🚗 6. Cars and Motorbikes for Students and Erasmus: Are They Worth It?

In most cases, for a student or Erasmus in Córdoba,
using a car daily is not worth it.
- Parking in the Historic Centre is very difficult.
- There are regulated parking zones (blue zone and residents).
- The train to Rabanales and city buses are usually more practical.
A car might be useful only if you live far from the centre or travel frequently to nearby towns.
🧭 7. Recommendations Depending on Your Faculty
